Ronald P. Ianson

Coudersport resident had been mechanic in valley


---- — Ronald P. Ianson of Sharon, formerly of Coudersport, Pa., passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 22, 2013, in the emergency room of Canonsburg (Pa.) General Hospital. He was 74.

Mr. Ianson was born March 25, 1939, in Coudersport to  Kenneth R. Ianson and Grace E. Tyler Ianson.

He attended Coudersport High School.

Ronald was a lumberjack in Coudersport and a mechanic in the Shenango Valley.

A U.S. Air Force veteran, he served from 1958 to 1973.

He was a former member of Sharon Alliance Church.

He enjoyed model railroading, putting models together and doing latch hook.

Surviving are: three daughters, Gail Woodring and her husband Terry, Roaring Springs, Pa.; Gwen Freeman and her husband Michael, Waynesboro, Pa.; and Gracie Freeman and her husband Daniel, Shinglehouse, Pa.; two sons, Eugene Ianson, California; and Kenny Ianson, Austin, Pa.; a sister, Judy Shaffer, Sharpsville; a brother, Robert Ianson and his wife Mable, Dade City, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Norman and William Ianson; a brother-in-law, Dale Shaffer; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Ianson.

Service: Funeral service at 10 a.m. Friday (4-26-13) in the chapel of JOHN FLYNN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY Inc., 2630 E. State St., Hermitage, with clergy to be announced.

Entombment: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
