George Methyson 'Tiny' Barringer

Sharon man drove for 30 years at Yourga


---- —    George Methyson 'Tiny' Barringer, Sharon, formerly of Wheatland, passed away of natural causes at 5:10 p.m. Monday (9-16-13) in UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. He was 77.

Mr. Barringer was born June 28, 1936, in Albemarle, Stanly County, N.C., the son of Henry and Lydia Dennis Barringer.

He was raised in Albemarle and graduated from Albemarle High School in 1954.

Tiny, as he was affectionately known, was an over-the-road truckdriver for 30 years at Yourga Trucking Inc., and the former Steel Trucking Inc., both in Wheatland.

In years past, he drove buses for STA and the Hermitage School District, and enjoyed transporting the Hickory Hornets to their away games.

George was a member of Wheatland-Farrell United Methodist Church, Wheatland.

In his spare time, he enjoyed a good game of cards as well as attending auctions, singing and listening to gospel music. An animal lover, he particularly loved his dog, Napoleon.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was honorably discharged Feb. 6, 1962 and was a member of American Legion Post 432, Wheatland.

His wife, the former Gloria Jean Teeter, whom he married May 11, 1991, survives at home.

He also leaves: his daughter, Alicia A. Tamilio and her husband Alfred, Pittstown, N.J.; a son, John Woodrow Cogan and his wife Delores "Jeannie" Cogan, Maryland; a sister, Jeanne Poplin, Albemarle; three stepgrandchildren, five stepgreat-grandchildren, a niece, a nephew and many cousins and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Tiny Barringer to Strayhaven Inc. Animal Shelter, 94 Donation Road, Greenville, PA 16125.

Service: Funeral service at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Mark E. Goswick, pastor of Wheatland-Farrell United Methodist Church, officiating. Prior to the service, full military honors will be rendered by the united honor guard from Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6233, West Middlesex, and American Legion Post 432, Wheatland.

Interment: Anderson Grove Baptist Cemetery, Albemarle.
