Anna Mae Dalessandro

Pizzeria co-owner, league bowler was in card clubs


---- — Anna Mae Dalessandro of Hermitage passed away at 5:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a period of failing health. She was 85.

Mrs. Dalessandro was born Nov. 20, 1927, in Farrell, a daughter of Michael and Anna Sabo Rogan.

She was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Farrell High School.

As a young girl, Anna was a candy striper at what is now Sharon Regional Health System.

She was employed as an inspector at the former Packard Electric Corp., Warren, Ohio, from 1950 to 1966.

Along with her husband, Tony “Luigi” Dalessandro, she owned and operated Luigi’s Pizza in Hermitage for many years. Their children continue to operate the well-known pizzeria.

Anna Mae was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Hermitage, and was a former Sunday school teacher at the church’s former Farrell location.

She was a member of many bowling leagues and card clubs, including the Jewelettes, and enjoyed cross-stitching.

Anna Mae was a hard worker and will be remembered by many for her fabulous cooking.

Surviving are: her husband, Tony “Luigi” Dalessandro, whom she married July 31, 1965; a daughter, Diane Lynn Dalessandro and her husband Brett Peterson, Hermitage; a son, Duane Anthony Dalessandro, Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Phyllis Rogan, Sharpsville; and Mardella Stewart, Sharon; a brother, Pete Rogan and his wife Jean, Warren, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Betty Milich and Shirley Dogan; and a brother, Michael Rogan.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to an animal charity of the donor’s choice.
