Joan Arlene Emmett

St. Michael’s Church member was retired nurse


---- — Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday for Joan Arlene Emmett, 110 Clarksville St., Greenville, who passed away at 1:18 p.m. Friday (9-27-13) in UPMC Horizon, Greenville. She was 79.

Mrs. Emmett was born in New Castle on March 10, 1934, to Anthony and Mary Wojtowiciz Kolodjeski.

She was a graduate of St. Frances School of Nursing, New Castle, and worked for 37 years as the obstetrical supervisor at UPMC Horizon, retiring in 1999.

She was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville, and was a member of Greenville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3374.

She was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan and she loved her dog “Gretta.”

She married P. Thomas “Muddy” Emmett in January 1957. He passed away in July 1998.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Mary Michele Emmett; and a daughter-in-law, Tamra Emmett.

Surviving are: two daughters, Lori K. Zarecky, Hermitage; and Mary Jo McAllister and her husband, John, Medina, Ohio; three sons, Thomas A. Emmett and his wife, Denise, and David B. Emmett and his wife, Brenda, all Greenville; and Robert H. Emmett, Barberton, Ohio; a sister, Roberta Angelo and her husband, Phillip, New Castle; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a companion, Clark G. Groce.
