Margaret Mary DeMarco

Cake decorator belonged to card, homemaker clubs

---- — A funeral service will be held Saturday for Margaret Mary DeMarco of Sample Road, Hermitage. She passed away at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, in her residence. She was 80.

Mrs. DeMarco was born Feb. 8, 1933, in Farrell to William Joseph Phillips and Wilma Lovina Gulentz Phillips.

She attended Villa Maria School in Erie and Farrell High School.

Mrs. DeMarco worked for seven years at Thiel College, Greenville, then started her own cake decorating business. She had an artistic talent that was reflected in her decorating and was active in cake decorating until her retirement.

She belonged to a ladies card club and Mercer County Extension Homemakers Club.

Margaret enjoyed reading, canning and going to her family’s cabin in the mountains.

She married Michael Kekich and, after his death, married Anthony F. DeMarco Sr. in 1955. He died in 1995.

Survivors include: three daughters, Deloris A. DeMarco and her husband William Parker, Polk; Sharon L. DeMarco, Hermitage; and Diane G. DeMarco and her husband Robert F. Angermeier, Mercer; a son, Anthony F. DeMarco Jr. and his girlfriend Sally Conley, Jackson Center; four brothers, Francis Phillips, New Castle; James Wathan, Fondulac, Wis.; Fred White, Tampa, Fla.; and Ed White, West Middlesex; and three sisters, Mildred “Midge” Kendrew, Benton, Ky.; Sandy Hawthorne, Tampa, Fla.; and Celia White, Benton.

She also leaves 19 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Besides her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, William Phillips and Wilma Phillips White; two daughters, Michaelene M. DeFrank and Christine A. Hall; three brothers, Leslie, William and Robert Phillips; a sister, Cara Sue Eich; a great-granddaughter, Lainey Seelbaugh; and two great-grandsons, Kaden and Preston.

Margaret was grateful to her granddaughter, Dana Hall, for the great love and care that Dana gave her through the years.

Calling hours: 5 to 9 p.m. today (10-4-13) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 3126 Main St., West Middlesex.

Service: Funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday (10-5-13) in the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Haynes, pastor of Grace Chapel Community Church, Hermitage, officiating.

Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
