Dr. William G. Berger

GC orthodontist was on school board, council


---- — Dr. William G. Berger of Grove City passed away at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, in Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township, after an extended illness. He was 93.

Dr. Berger was born Feb. 27, 1920, in the Dormont section of Pittsburgh to Earl O. Berger and Vera Lewis Berger.

He was a graduate of Westminster College, New Wilmington, and was an alumnus of the dental school of the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Berger retired as an orthodontist, having owned and operated a practice in Grove City for many years. He also did dental work for the Pennsylvania State Department of Corrections.

He served in the Navy during World War II.

Dr. Berger was a former school board director for Grove City Area School District and served on Mercer County Area Agency on Aging and Grove City borough council.

His wife, the former Ruth B. “Pud” Beatty, whom he married June 23, 1945, passed on Oct. 10, 2010.

Surviving are two daughters, Megan Berger, Grove City; and Glynis B. Miller and her husband Thomas, Grand Rapids, Mich.; and a grandson, Justin Miller, Grand Rapids.

Besides his wife, Dr. Berger was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Berger.
