GC resident, homemaker had worked for Gimbels


- — Helen DeAngelo, an 18-year resident of the Grove City area and resident for three years at Orchard Manor, Pine Township, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away at 3 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, in Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township, after an extended illness. She was 93.

Mrs. DeAngelo was born May 18, 1920, in Pittsburgh to James and Mary Mangone.

She was a homemaker and formerly was a full-time sales associate at the former Gimbels Department Store, downtown Pittsburgh.

She was a member of the non-denominational church, Community of the Crucified One, Homestead, where she took the vow to be Sister Mary Ann.

She enjoyed doing crafts, word search puzzles and playing bingo.

Survivors include three children, Sam Astorino and James Astorino, both Pittsburgh; and MaryAnn Kilpatrick and her husband Charles, Mercer; and 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Samuel DeAngelo; her parents; a granddaughter, Tammy Jo Astorino; a great-grandson, Justin Goldie; and eight brothers and sisters.

Interment: Sacred Heart Church Cemetery, Conneautville.
