Donald Frank “Pappy” Myers, 34 State St., Greenville, was called home to the Lord, surrounded by his family, at 2:10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, in UPMC Horizon, Greenville, after a brief illness. Known as “Daddy Don” to his family, he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was 88.
He was born Sept. 21, 1925, in Stoneboro to James Brandon and Agnes Iretta Myers. He was reared in Stoneboro by his grandparents, Frank and Jesse Myers.
Mr. Myers attended the former Yankee School of Sandy Lake Township.
In 1985 he retired after 40 years of service, from Westinghouse Electric Corp.’s former Sharon Transformer Division as a forklift operator. After his retirement he did maintenance and janitor work at Kimmy’s Tavern, Greenville, where he was just like part of the family.
He attended Lifeway Church of the Nazarene, Greenville.
Don enjoyed collecting old money and coins, and he had an extensive collection of bells, birds and elephants. He also loved music and enjoyed playing the harmonica.
In his early years, Don was active with Stoneboro Volunteer Fire Company and also for many years was a food vendor in the center field at the Great Stoneboro Fair. He also was a game vendor there.
Don served with the United States Navy.
He married Margaret A. “Peg” Hanna May 9, 1953. She preceded him in death Feb. 21, 1978.
Surviving are: two daughters, Donna M. Leonard and her husband Donald and Virginia A. Blair, with whom he made his home, all Greenville; five sons, Howard R. Myers and his wife Phyllis, Warrenton, Mo.; Randall J. Myers and his companion Vickey Gochenour, Newell, W.Va.; Thomas A. Myers and his wife Joy, Sandy Lake; John W. Myers and his wife Patti, Mercer; and Dale R. Myers and his companion Jenny Wade, Greenville; a granddaughter he reared, Jennifer Joy Myers, Salineville, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Alma Myers, Bessemer, Pa. He also leaves his beloved pet cat “Furby.”
Mr. Myers was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Raymond Myers and Charles Rodger Washock and his wife, Mary; and a daughter-in-law, Rosemary L. Myers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.

Interment and committal service: New Lebanon Cemetery, Mill Creek Township.
