Dale A. Clark

Navy vet owned business, was MCAR shop supervisor

- — Dale A. Clark, Sandy Lake, passed away unexpectedly at 6:48 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, in the emergency room of UPMC Horizon, Greenville. He was 70 years old.

Born Aug. 22, 1943, in Grove City, he was a son of Alexander “Alex” and Mary Elizabeth “Betty” West Clark.

He was a 1961 graduate of Lakeview High School.

After graduation he served in the Navy with the USS Wasp from January 1962 to May 1966. During that time he was involved in the Cuban missile crisis and also served during the Vietnam era. Some of his duties also included recovery of space capsules for the space program.

Mr. Clark had worked at Westinghouse Electric Corp.’s former Sharon Transformer Division for several years and also did painting and home repair locally with his father for many years.

He also owned and operated Clarks Flow Over Furniture Stripping for many years. He retired in 2010 after 23 years of service from MCAR (Mercer County Association for the Retarded) as a supervisor in the furniture shop, where all the clients enjoyed his friendship.

He was of the Presbyterian faith.

Dale loved the outdoors and being in the fresh air cutting firewood and working on machinery, and he loved walking with his dog Lucy. He was always ready and willing to help with any projects his family would have.

He was a loving husband, father and an especially proud Grandpa to his grandson Quintin. His world would light up when he came around and they would go for rides on the tractor and tend to things in the yard and “Papa” will be sadly missed.

He was member of the American Legion and a life member of the Handyman Club.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, the former Audrey M. Lynn, whom he married Feb. 10, 1968, at home; a daughter, Lynn M. Adams and her husband Hubert, Meadville; and a son, Kevin D. Clark and his wife Stacie, Hadley; a grandson, Quintin K. Clark, Hadley; and a sister, Karen McMullen and her husband Freeland “Mac,” Port Hadlock, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William W. “Bill” Clark.
