Dolores J. ‘Dee’ Baker

Ex-Sandy Lake resident was Polk Center retiree

- — Dolores J. “Dee” Baker, formerly of Sandy Lake, passed away at 7:10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, in Golden Living Center, Oil City, after an extended illness. She was 69.

Mrs. Baker was born July 18, 1944, in Canonsburg, Pa., a daughter of Steve and Rosella K. Gendt Bock.

She was a 1963 graduate of West Allegheny High School, Imperial, Pa., and attended Grace Martin School of Pittsburgh.

Mrs. Baker retired from Polk Center in 1985.

She was a member of Oil City Church of the Nazarene and attended Emmanuel Christian Church, New Vernon Township.

Dee enjoyed cooking and sewing and was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and she enjoyed singing.

Most of all she was a loving mother and grandmother.

Her husband, James C. Whitling, preceded her in death Dec. 8, 1999.

Survivors include a daughter, Patty Segars and her husband Paul, Dothan, Ala.; and a son, Raymond A. Evanitz and his fiancée’ Robynne Brock, Sandy Lake; five grandchildren, Crystal Gurall and her husband Lance, North Huntington, Pa.; Steven Evanitz and Alyson Brock, both Sandy Lake; and Bailee Segars and Katie Rose Segars, both Dothan, Ala.; and a great-granddaughter, Amelya Gurall, North Huntington; two sisters,  Mildred L. “Beanie” Colussy, Laurel, Md.; and Louise Bock, Franklin; three brothers, Ronald L. Bock and his wife Beverly, Grove City; Donald L. Bock and his wife Martha, Jupiter, Fla.; and Richard Naser, Daytona, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gene S. Evanitz; and a brother, Mervin Dale Bock.

Calling hours: Noon to time of service Saturday (3-1-14) in SCOTT A. BLACK FUNERAL HOME, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro.

Service: Funeral and committal service at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Tim Clark, pastor of Emmanuel Christian Church, New Vernon Township, officiating.

Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Township.
