Norma M. Reardon

Retired nurse worked for hospitals, doctors


- — A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday for Norma M. Reardon of Sharon. She passed away at 6:39 a.m. Sunday, March 2, 2014, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 88.

Mrs. Reardon was born Dec. 15, 1925, in Sharon, a daughter of John and Philomena “Mamie” Clemente DeCapua.

A lifelong Sharon resident, she attended the former St. Joseph Parochial Grade School and was a graduate of Sharon High School.

Norma was an alumna of the former Buhl Hospital School of Nursing, Sharon, and began her career as a nurse in the OB/GYN department of Sharon General Hospital, now Sharon Regional Health System. She later worked for Dr. Edward Falk and Dr. Alfred Perfett for more than 10 years.

Norma was head nurse for the PIP program at Sharon General Hospital and later served in the same capacity for the Insights program at what was at that time Shenango Valley Osteopathic Hospital, Farrell.

She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Church, Sharon, and its Ladies Guild. Norma was one of the founders of the Tuesday afternoon AL-ANON meetings.

Norma was very family-oriented and enjoyed the many gatherings throughout the years. She also liked to read.

She will be remembered by many as a kind, loving, compassionate and gentle lady.

Her husband of nearly 57 years, James F. Reardon, whom she married March 31, 1948, in St. Joseph’s Church, passed away March 29, 2005.

Surviving are: three children, Timothy J. Reardon and his wife Linda, Chagrin Falls, Ohio; Joanne Reardon Arthur and her husband Gregory, Turtle Creek, Pa.; and Paula Reardon, at home; three grandchildren, Ryan Reardon and his wife Bri; and Ashley and Meredith Reardon; two great-grandsons, Anthony James “AJ” and Andrew Reardon; and two sisters, Patricia “Pat” Carnes and her husband Paul, Hermitage; and Geraldine “Gerrie” Derr, Sharpsville.

Besides her husband, Norma was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Lou Ceremuga and Gloria Rivetti; and a brother, Alfred “Sonny” DeCapua.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
