Yvonne Marie Bartolo Burns, of Fairhope, Ala., died at 6:37 p.m. Sunday (3-24-13) in Thomas Hospital, Fairhope, after a three-month illness. She was 85.
She was born Jan. 23, 1928, in Grove City to Michael and Lucy Zappavignia Bartolo.
She married Donald A. Burns on May 7, 1960. She was a graduate of Grove City High School, Class of 1945 and Grove City College, Class of 1949. She was a member of P.E.O., tutored for adult literacy and she was a past president of the Gulf Coast Symphony Board. She had a starring role in Look Homeward Angel in Gulfport Little Theater. Yvonne will be missed by her family and many friends.
She formerly was a school teacher in Pennsylvania and Maryland. At one time she worked for the FBI in Washington, D.C., and was a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines. She was of the Catholic faith.
She is survived by her husband, of Fairhope; three children, Brian Burns, of Boca Raton, Fla., Doug Burns, Redwood City, Calif. and Melissa Burns, Los Angeles, Calif.; three grandchildren, Emily, Aaron and Jordan Burns, and one brother, Ray Bartolo, of Greenville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Edward Bartolo, in WWII, and a sister, Mae Wachhals.

Burial: Crestview Memorial Park Inc., Grove City.
