Antonio Moschillo

Sharon Steel Corp. retiree was gardener, winemaker

HARTFORD — Antonio Moschillo of Hartford passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, May 21, 2013, in his home. He was 86.

Mr. Moschillo was born March 3, 1927, in San Bartolmeo in Galdo, Italy, a son of Michele and Grazia Sebastian Moschillo.

He married the former Anna Maria Perna on April 17, 1950, and together with their three daughters immigrated to the United States in 1966. He and his family made their home in Hartford.

Antonio retired in 1989 from the former Sharon Steel Corp.’s Farrell plant where he had worked in various capacities for more than 20 years.

He was an avid gardener and farmer and was known for his green thumb growing abilities. He enjoyed winemaking, eating delicious foods and spending time with friends. Above all, he loved being with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Moschillo leaves behind: his three beloved daughters, Grace Vitello and her husband Robert, Masury; Carmelina Nuzzo and her husband Salvatore, Hartford; and Michelina Braho and her husband Gerald, Fowler; his brother, Daniel Moschillo and his wife Jean, Hermitage; two sisters, Mary Tambascia and her husband Dominic, Newton, Mass.; and Carmela Campagna, Masury; nine beloved grandchildren, Robert Vitello and his wife Darcy, Antonio Vitello, Alessandro Vitello and his wife Ann, Michelina Vitello, Marcell Vitello, Alivia Nuzzo, Vincent Nuzzo, Adrianna Braho and Joseph Braho; and his great-grandchildren, Alessandro Vitello Jr. and Abigail Vitello.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna, on Aug. 30, 2011; and his sisters, Maria Rosa Ricci and Natalina Moschillo.

Calling hours: Friends may call from 9 a.m. to time of Mass Saturday (5-25-13) in St. Anthony’s Church, 804 Idaho St., Sharon. Family and friends may send condolences to www.lanefuneralhomes.com

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church with the Rev. Joseph C. Campbell as celebrant.

Interment: Next to his wife in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hermitage.
