Sharon company welder, inspector enjoyed hobbies


---- — Donald “Scott” McAllister of 453 Mercer Road, Hempfield Township, passed away at 6:40 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, in UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh, after a sudden onset of leukemia. He was 55.

Mr. McAllister was born Oct. 27, 1957, in Warren, Ohio, to Donald R. and Mary E. Scott McAllister.

He graduated in 1977 from Champion (Ohio) High School and was a welder and inspector at American Industries in Sharon.

Scott was a member of the Allegheny Chapter of Gold Prospectors Association of America and Maranatha Church in Cortland.

His hobbies and interests included gardening, hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, gold mining, tractors and trains.

Scott is survived by his wife at home, Theresa “Terry” A. Banyots McAllister, whom he married Aug. 8, 1998, in Champion.

Also surviving are two daughters, Kaitlin Groth, Greenville; and Becky Groth and Ron, Warren; two sons, David Groth and Gus Groth; and a granddaughter, Ava Majewski, all also Warren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
