IUP honors student was loving daughter and sister

— Marla Ann Pivarnik of Mitchell Road, West Middlesex, passed away unexpectedly early Monday morning (8-26-13) in her residence. She was 22.

Miss Pivarnik was born May 19, 1991, in New Castle, one of two children born to Michael Joseph Pivarnik and Melinda Joyce Higgins Pivarnik.

She was a member of West Middlesex High School’s graduating class of 2009.

Marla matriculated to Indiana University of Pennsylvania and entered its honors program in psychology. She earned her bachelor of arts degree in psychology this year and was preparing to study for her master’s degree.

While at I.U.P., she was selected for membership by the Executive Leadership Council of Sigma Alpha Lambda, a national leadership and honors organization.

Marla was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex. She loved reading, listening to her favorite music and spending time with her friends; she was a lover of all animals, especially cats.

As a loving daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend to many, she will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Marla is survived by her parents, Michael Joseph Pivarnik and Melinda “Mindy” Pivarnik; and her brother, Michael A. Pivarnik. She also leaves several aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout the New Castle area.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents.

Service: Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Friday (8-30-13) in Church of the Good Shepherd, 3613 Sharon Road, West Middlesex, with the Rev. Robert M. Malene, pastor, as celebrant. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday for the church.

Interment: St. Vitus Cemetery, Shenango Township, Lawrence County.
