James H. Funk

St. Paul’s member worked for Jones Performance


---- — James H. Funk, 401 Pierce Ave., Sharpsville, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Sunday (9-1-13) at home surrounded by his family following an extended illness. He was 63.

James was born June 25, 1950, in Sharon to Robert Glenn and Lottie Mae Staley Funk.

He graduated from Sharon High School, class of 1969.

Mr. Funk was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army.

On Sept. 25, 1976, he married Sherry Lynn Haywood who survives at home.

James worked for the former Sharon Steel Corp., Farrell, and for Jones Performance Products, West Middlesex.

He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Hermitage.

James was also a member of the Sharpsville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6404 and Sharpsville American Legion Post 162.

He bowled in the Get Along Gang bowling league.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and most importantly spending time with his family, extended family and friends.

James is survived by: his loving spouse Sherry; two daughters, Lu Ann Marie Funk and her significant other Ginny McCuskey, both Sharpsville; and Patricia Lynn and her husband John Gates, West Monroe, N.Y.; a son, James Allen Funk, Sharpsville; a brother, Robert Funk, West Hickory; two grandsons, Dallas McCuskey and Seth Gates; and a granddaughter, Cassie Gates.

He was preceded in death byhis parents.
