Edna Mary Winger, Grove City, passed away at 9:50 p.m. Friday (9-6-13) in Grove Manor, Grove City. She was 97.
She was born June 18, 1916, in McBride, Butler County, to William Winnet and Mary Edna McClung.
She married Leroy “Bing” Winger on April 20, 1940, and was happily married 65 years until Leroy’s passing on June 15, 2005.
Edna was a graduate of Grove City High School and Slippery Rock State Teachers College.
She worked at JC Penney in Grove City and did needlepoint for Palmer and Smith, Sandy Lake Road, during the early years of her marriage.
Edna retired from Grove City Area School District in April 1971; she was a second-grade teacher at Highland Elementary School.
Previously, she taught elementary students at Hookstown, Pa., and in a one-room schoolhouse in No. 5, near Grove City.
She was a member of East Main Presbyterian Church and belonged to Pennsylvania State Education Association.
She loved her family and was an outstanding mother. Edna enjoyed reading, sewing and crafts, particularly crocheting quilts, painting ceramics and making beaded jewelry.
Edna is survived by her twins, Jack Lee Winger and his wife Darlene, Poquoson, Va.; and Dixie Eve Coleman and her husband Grady Jr., Lawrenceville, Ga.; three grandchildren, Jonathan Coleman, David (Angela) Coleman, and Joshua (Nicole) Coleman, all of the Atlanta area.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters Dorothy Rogers (Kenneth), Lois Wardle (Robert), and Margie Webster (John); a brother Charles McClung (Lucille); and an infant great-grandson, Kaleb.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Edna’s memory to: Friends of the Grove City Library, 125 W Main St., or the Christian Loving Fund for patient activities, in care of Grove Manor, 435 N. Broad St., both Grove City, PA 16127 .

Service: Graveside service at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Woodland Cemetery, Grove City, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband. Service conducted by Rev. Tom Funka of East Main Presbyterian Church, Grove City.
Burial: Woodland Cemetery, Grove City.
