- — Daniel R. Swallow Sr. of Sharpsville passed away peacefully of natural causes at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, in his home. He was 71.

Mr. Swallow was born Jan. 20, 1942, in Sharon to Daniel and Helen Bean Swallow.

He graduated from Sharpsville High School, class of 1960.

In June 1963, he married Judith Sabella, who passed away in November 2004.

Daniel served in the Navy as petty officer first class from 1960 to 1964.

Following his tour of duty, he worked 19 years at the former Sharon Steel Corp.’s Farrell plant. He retired in 2005 as an ironworker foreman at WCI Steel, Warren, Ohio.

As an avid sportsman, he spent much of his retired years enjoying the family’s hunting cabin in northcentral Pennsylvania.

Surviving Daniel are: four sons, David A. Swallow and Daniel R. Swallow, both Sharpsville; Scott J. Swallow, Cincinnati; and Michael J. Swallow, Columbus, Ohio; three sisters, Patricia and her husband Dennis Holder, Las Vegas; Barbara and her husband John Nelson; and Debra Susi, all Florida; and a brother-in-law, Bob Belville, California.

Besides his wife, Judith Ann Swallow, he was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sandra Belville.
