Homemaker liked to fish, took mission trip to Africa

- — Marilyn A. Alexander of Mill Street, Sandy Lake, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, in her residence after a period of declining health. She was 86.

Mrs. Alexander was born Oct. 9, 1927, in Grove City, a daughter of Willis J. and Bertha M. Wasser Rose.

Marilyn attended Oak Grove Church, Fairview Township.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed fishing, having traveled to Canada on many occasions with her husband and family.

She enjoyed cutting wood, taking care of the lawn, traveling with her husband and most importantly, sharing time with her family, which was the center of her life. She always enjoyed being able to participate and support the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In 1989, she was able to participate in a mission trip to Sierra Leone, Africa.

On Jan. 1, 1947, she married David W. Alexander, who preceded her in death March 19, 2011.

She is survived by: a son, David R. Alexander, Greenville; three daughters, Susan L. Kaltenbaugh and her husband Ray J., Sandy Lake; Cheryl R. Moose and her husband Daniel K., Blaine, Minn.; and Debra E. Snyder and her husband Robert, Sheakleyville; a brother, Dr. M. Richard Rose and his wife Clarice, Geneva, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Michele Mumford and her husband Jason, Edinboro; Lisa Kaltenbaugh, Pittsburgh; Mark Kaltenbaugh and his wife Nina, Sandy Lake; Rebecca Johnson and her husband Jason, Circle Pines, Minn.; Elizabeth Stacy and her husband Jason; and Sarah Willett, all Lino Lakes, Minn.; and David G. Snyder, Sheakleyville; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Wilburt G. Rose; and a grandson, Jared Robert Snyder.

Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Township.
