Wilburt Ronald Garrett

Laborer collected scrap metal, liked to bowl, fish


- — LAWRENCE COUNTY – Wilburt Ronald Garrett of Beechwood Boulevard, Pulaski Township, Lawrence County, passed away at 3 a.m. Monday (10-21-13) in his residence. He was 74.

Mr. Garrett was born April 6, 1939, in New Wilmington to Grover C. and Velma Fair Garrett.

He attended Wilmington High School.

Mr. Garrett retired from his employment as a laborer, working on horse farms.

He enjoyed collecting scrap metal, fishing and bowling, and was of the Methodist faith.

His wife, Roxine Butler Garrett, whom he married Sept. 29, 1985, survives at the residence.

Also surviving are: his children, Denale Garczewski and Larry, Neshannock Township; Dawn Saad and Joe, Hermitage; D.J. Prebble and Steph, West Middlesex; Ronald Garrett and Deb, Sheakleyville; Barb Garrett and Doug, New Castle; Wilburt Garrett, Grove City; Karen Garrett, Atlantic; Rhonda Garrett Trimble, New Castle; and Marvin Walochik and Lisa, Sandy Lake; and six sisters, four brothers, 13 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hours:  4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (10-23-13) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday (10-24-13) in the funeral home with the Rev. Rick Helsel, pastor of First United Methodist Church, New Castle, officiating.

Interment: Will follow.
