Helene R. Steinfeld

Former Hermitage woman held B.S. in rec education


SAN ANGELO, Texas — Helene R. Steinfeld of San Angelo, formerly of Bronx, N.Y., and Hermitage, passed away early Thursday morning, Oct. 31, 2013, in her home surrounded by family after battling pancreatic cancer. She was 61.

Mrs. Steinfeld was born Aug. 6, 1952, in New York City to Frank and Mildred Meisner.

Helene earned her bachelor of science degree in recreation education in 1975 from Lehman College in New York City.

On Feb. 8, 1976, she married Dr. Richard Steinfeld in New York City. They were married 26 years. He preceded her in death in 2002 at the age of 54.

Mrs. Steinfeld is survived by: her son, William Steinfeld, Hollywood, Fla.; and a daughter, Sara Jennings and her husband Johnathan, San Angelo.

Service and burial: Funeral service at 1 p.m. Sunday (11-3-13) at the graveside in Temple Beth Israel Cemetery, Hermitage, with Rabbi Frank Muller of the Congregation Rodef Sholom, Youngstown, officiating.
