Evan E. Gill

Sharon football player attended Sharon Baptist

- — Funeral services will be Thursday for Evan E. Gill, Sharon, who died Friday (11-8-13) from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. He was 17.

Evan was born Feb. 7, 1996, in Sharon, a son of Edward and Tracy Patterson Gill.

A senior at Sharon High School, Evan was part of the Sharon Tigers varsity football team where he played as an offensive guard and was the field goal kicker.

Evan loved playing football and enjoyed being with his teammates. He was proud of his teammates for their accomplishments and for making the playoffs, was very proud to be going to the playoffs and was looking forward to playing.

He worked part time for Hermitage Hot Dog Hut as a dishwasher.

Evan attended Sharon Baptist Church, Hermitage.

In Evan’s younger years, he played pee-wee and midget football for the Sharon Colts and also played baseball with Sharon Little League.

Evan was very active in his school, belonging to Talent Search and the Hi-Y students for charity.

He volunteered his time for many different events through the school such as the blood drive. 

Evan enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, four-wheelers and campfires.

He was a very happy young man, loving to make people laugh and smile with his many jokes, but most of all Evan was very family-oriented and loved being with his family and extended family and friends.

Evan touched many lives and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

His is survived by: his mother, Tracy Hoffman and her husband Joseph, with whom he lived; his father, Edward Gill and his wife Kathy of Hubbard; two sisters, Danielle and Deanna Gill, both of Greenville; a brother, Edward Gill III; three stepsisters, Promise Hoffman of Florida; Destiny Hoffman of Sharon; and Brittany Kraynak of Howland, Ohio; grandparents Harry and Phyllis Patterson and Nancy Hoffman, all Sharpsville; great-grandmother Alouise Kerr, Jamestown; four nieces, Kaylie Gill, Kylee Gill, Aaniyah Harrison and Mariah Johnson; and a nephew, Cameron Gill.

He is also survived by: aunts and uncles, Susan and Ray Steach, Vanessa Patterson, Cody Patterson, Vickie Gardlock, William Gill and Richard Gardlock; and several cousins including Michelle and Michael Steach.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ernie and Anna Mae Starcher, and his grandfather, Ralph Hoffman.

Service: Funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday (11-14-13) in Sharon Baptist Church, 1531 George St. Ext., Hermitage, with the Rev. Thomas Morgan officiating. Mourners are asked to meet at the church.

Burial: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
