Eugene ‘Gene’ T. Mostrog

Horse racing enthusiast was Westinghouse analyst

- — Mr. Mostrog was born Aug. 29, 1929, in Farrell to John and Victoria Wojcik Mostrog.

He graduated in 1947 from Farrell High School and in 1953 from what is now Youngstown State University, earning a bachelor of arts degree in economics and accounting.

Mr. Mostrog retired from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. after 30 years of employment. At the time of his retirement, he was a cost and financial analyst in the accounting department.

As a veteran of the Korean conflict, Mr. Mostrog served in the Army from 1953-55.

Mr. Mostrog was a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sharon, and belonged to Polish National Alliance.

In his earlier years, he was a partner in M&S Accountants, which serviced local businesses and individuals in accounting and tax services.

Throughout his life, Gene was keenly interested in matters that involved aspects and situations relating to his college degree. He also enjoyed the challenges and entertainment provided by thoroughbred horse racing.

Other interests were working in his yard and garden. During his lifetime, Gene also enjoyed taking care and spending time with his domestic indoor cats.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews including Marilyn Moss, Sharon; Rich Evans, Arizona; Larry and Gerry Mostrog, both Hot Springs Village, Ark.; Gene Mostrog and Brenda Mostrog, both Muncie, Ind.; Joyceen Cunnane, Naperville, Ill.; Mike Mostrog, El Centro, Calif.; and Sharon Sylvester, Carlsbad, Calif.

Mr. Mostrog was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Valeria Evans, Helen Mostrog and Maria Martin; and three brothers, Ben Mostrog, Joseph Mostrog and Casey Mostrog.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 370 Spruce Ave., Sharon, PA 16146.
