The following obituary is being reprinted from July 9 to include additional information being supplied by the family.
Ronald J. Gardlock of 2510 S. Neshannock Road, Hermitage, passed away at 8:01 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013, in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness. He was 75.
Mr. Gardlock was born July 1, 1938, in Brookville, Pa., a son of George C. Daugherty and Anna Geraldine Clinger Gardlock Daugherty.
He was a 1956 graduate of Farrell High School.
Ronald had worked as a welder at the former Container Products in Masury for 30 years and had also been employed at the former Rotell’s Tire in Farrell and the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.
Mr. Gardlock was an honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran, having served as a private first class soldier from 1962 to 1963. He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Gardlock was a social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Hickory Post 6166, Hermitage.
Ronald also belonged to Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann’s Church in Farrell and was a member of the National Rifle Association and Mercer County Sheriff’s Association.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, working on cars, going to flea markets and watching John Wayne movies and classic westerns.
His wife, the former Catherine E. Lazor, whom he married Aug. 19, 1967, survives at home.
Also surviving are his son, Brian J. Gardlock; and his sister, Mary Margaret “Peggy” Dolata and her husband Walter, all Hermitage; his brother, Gerald Daugherty and his wife Marianne, Brookfield; a special cousin, Jeanette "Nettie" Gardlock, Brookville, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
He will be sadly missed by his faithful dog, Sadie, and his cat, Socks.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William A. and Richard T. Gardlock.

Service: Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday (7-12-13) in Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann’s Church, Farrell, by the Rev. Donald E. Berdis.
Interment: Mount Washington Cemetery, Jefferson Township.
