NEW MIDDLETOWN, Ohio – Dorothy Elizabeth Morrison of Poland, Ohio, died Saturday evening (8-24-13) in Masternick Memorial in New Middletown. She was 97.
Mrs. Morrison was born March 28, 1916, in West Middlesex, a daughter of Charles and Laura Houlette Mitchelltree.
She resided in West Middlesex until coming to the Poland area in 1975.
A 1934 graduate of West Middlesex High School, Dorothy worked as a cafeteria manager for West Middlesex schools for more than 30 years, retiring in 1968.
Dorothy was a member of Poland Presbyterian Church, its Mariner’s and its Care and Share Group. She loved to knit and crochet sweaters, dish towels and blankets for her grandchildren.
Dorothy’s husband, Scott Morrison, whom she married Oct. 31, 1938, died Aug. 22, 1975.
She leaves her son, James Morrison and his wife Cathy, Poland; her sister, Nettie Pantell, Greenville; two grandchildren, Doug Morrison; and Greg Morrison and his wife Katie; and five great-grandchildren, Brandon and Tyler Morrison; and Aubrie, Aleea and Liam Morrison.
Besides her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James Morrison; two sisters, Gwen McFarland and Alberta Scott; a nephew, Richard Scott; and a niece, Judy Pantell.
