Jean M. Deneen Tate

Notre Dame member was nurse, liked to travel

---- — A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday for Jean M. Deneen Tate of Greenville. She passed away at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, in Clepper Manor, Sharon, where she was a resident the last two months.

Mrs. Tate was born in Sharon, a daughter of Raymond and Catherine V. Flynn Deneen.

Jean was a graduate of Hickory High School, Hermitage, and attended Penn State University.

She was a licensed practical nurse at Sharon General Hospital for 10 years and later graduated from Sharon General Hospital’s School of Nursing as a registered nurse.

In the 1980s, she and her family moved to Indiana, where Jean was a registered nurse at St. Anthony Hospital in Crown Point and St. Mary’s Medical Center in Hobart. Upon moving back to the area, she was employed by Clepper Manor in Sharon for more than eight years.

Jean was a member of Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.

She enjoyed crocheting and traveling, particularly to Ireland. Her grandchildren brought much joy to her life and she cherished the time she shared with them.

Surviving are: her husband of 57 years, Robert G. Tate; two daughters, Jean Gianoni and her husband Robert, Moon Township, Allegheny County; and Veronica Menster and her husband Bob, Plainfield, Ill.; a son, Bob Tate and his wife Renee, Hobart; three grandchildren, Shannon and Brandon Gianoni and Bobby Tate; and a sister, Ann Morar, Hermitage.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Catherine Ferry and her twin, Joan Meyer; and three brothers, Raymond, James and Thomas Deneen.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 3208 B Wilmington Road, Box 5037, New Castle, PA 16105.

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the church with the Rev. Jeffery J. Noble, pastor, as celebrant.
