Marian S. Danner

First Presbyterian member had been private secretary


---- — Marian S. Danner, formerly of 1214 Highland Road, Hermitage, died Thursday evening, Aug. 29, 2013, in The Ridgewood at Shenango Valley, Hermitage, following a long illness.

Mrs. Danner was born in Waverly, Ohio, a daughter of Herman H. and Elizabeth Moore Shy.

She was a high school graduate and attended Interstate Business College and was a member of Alpha Iota sorority.

Marian was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Sharon; and a member of Mercer County Crippled Children’s Auxiliary.

In her early years, she was employed as a private secretary for General Electric in Schenectady, N.Y.

She is survived by a son, Dr. James E. Danner, D.D.S., Pittsburgh; a daughter, Marilyn E. Lyons, Annapolis, Md.; two grandsons, Christopher Lyons and his wife Maryellen, Leonardtown, Md.; and Stephen Lyons and his wife Jenna, Virginia; great-grandchildren, Elise Lyons, Andrew Lyons, Caligh Lyons and Grayson Lyons; a sister, Patty Jackson, Hanover, N.H.; a sister-in law, Adah Shy, Portsmouth, Ohio; and a brother-in-law, Alfred Baert, Minnesota.

Her husband, George E. Danner, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Donald M. Shy; a sister, Jean S. Baert; and an infant sister, Maxine Shy.

Calling hours: It was Marian’s request for no visitation.

Service: Private funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday (9-2-13) in Oakwood Cemetery Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Hink, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Sharon, officiating.

Interment: To follow the private service.
