Erie resident was born in Clark


---- — Frank R. Merchant, Erie, died unexpectedly on Thursday (8-29-13) at UPMC Hamot, Erie, surrounded by his loving family. He was 79.

He was born Jan. 7, 1934, in Clark, a son of Abram and Mary Kray Merchant.

He served in the Army during the Korean War.

Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, crossword puzzles, and playing cards and checkers with his grandchildren.

Frank was a man of great integrity who loved his family, his God, and all of God’s children.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Betty; three sons,  Robert, Kenneth (Sharon), and Bradley (Cynthia); two brothers, Abram and Charles Merchant; and four grandchildren, Adam, Sara, Andrew and Matthew.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be designated to the Wounded Warriors Fund in care of the family through the funeral home.

Calling hours: Friends may call from noon to time of service Wednesday (9-4-13) in DUSCKAS-MARTIN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Road, Erie.

Service: Funeral service at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. David Snyder officiating.

Burial: Laurel Hill Cemetery, Erie.
