Bernice Elaine Trout

FNB retiree was gardener, active in Charleston U.M.

---- — A funeral service will be held Thursday for Bernice Elaine Trout of 129 Reno Road, Hermitage (Jefferson Township). She passed away unexpectedly at 11:58 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, in St. Elizabeth’s Health Center, Youngstown, after becoming ill at home. She was 80.

Mrs. Trout was born July 29, 1932, in Stoney Creek Township, a daughter of Harry W. and Elsie Fritz Kimmel.

She was a 1950 graduate of Shanksville-Stoney Creek High School.

Mrs. Trout worked for several years at the data center of First National Bank in Hermitage, retiring in 1992.

Bernice was an active member of Charleston United Methodist Church in Hermitage and belonged to Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 180, Mercer.

Bernice enjoyed being outside gardening and digging in the dirt, reading, cooking and trying new recipes.

Her husband, Donald W. Trout, whom she married Nov. 4, 1951, survives at home.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Kelecy and her husband Richard, Valrico, Fla.; and Nancy Gassner, Mercer; her grandchildren, Jonathan and Amanda Kelecy; Ryan Gassner and his fiancée Erica Balluch; and Sara Gassner; a  sister-in-law, Wilma Kimmel, Friedens, Pa.; and four nieces and two nephews.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Doris J. Kimmel; and her brother, Harold D. Kimmel.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Charleston United Methodist Church, 1156 Greenfield Road, Hermitage, PA 16148.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday (5-9-13) in the funeral home with the Rev. William J. Locke officiating.

Interment: Mount Washington Cemetery, Jefferson Township.
