George H. Kitsch

Vietnam veteran belonged to VFW, Croatian Club

---- — George H. Kitsch of West Middlesex, passed away at 8:25 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. He was 73.

Mr. Kitsch was born Dec. 10, 1939, in Chicago.

He was a custodian at Downer Grove South (Ill..) School District.

George served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam conflict and was stationed in Hawaii. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6233, West Middlesex.

He also belonged to the Croatian Club and the former Degree of Honor, both Farrell.

George enjoyed playing cards and was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Cubs.

His wife, the former Nancy Hassell, whom he married March 21, 1987, survives at home.

Also surviving are: two stepdaughters, Marge Opalenik, Wheatland; and Kim Opalenik and her fiancé Frank Kuncio, Hermitage; a stepson, Frank Opalenik, West Middlesex; and two grandsons, Adam Opalenik and Frankie Kuncio III.

He was preceded in death by a brother.
