Wade McBride Lutz

Retired machinist, Master Gardener served in church


---- — Wade McBride Lutz, 2214 Georgetown Road, Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County, died at 4:30 p.m. Friday (5-17-13) in Overlook Medical Clinic, New Wilmington. He was 95.

He was born Feb. 28, 1918, in Grove City to Willis Edward and Edith McBride Lutz.

He married Bertha Lucille Cunningham on Sept. 29, 1937. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2009.

He retired from Etna Standard in Ellwood City, where he had worked as a machinist.

Wade was a Master Gardener and enjoyed taking care of his lawn.

Spending time with his family was of the utmost importance to him.

He was a member of Plain Grove Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder and served on its cemetery board.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Donald R. (Ruth A.) McFarland, New Wilmington; a son, Larry Lutz and his wife Margaret, Volant; a sister, Vera Flack, New Castle; a brother, Walter Eugene Lutz, West Middlesex; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Kahl and Janet Allen.

Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday (5-21-13) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1778 Perry Highway (Village of Leesburg), Volant; and 10 a.m. to time of service Wednesday (5-22-13) in Plain Grove Presbyterian Church, 626 Plain Grove Road, Slippery Rock.

Service: Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with the Rev. F. Stanley Keehlwetter, interim pastor, officiating.

Interment: South Plain Grove Cemetery, Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County.
