A memorial celebration of life service will be held Saturday for Gerald L. “Red” Cottle Sr. of Sharon. He departed this life at 9:20 p.m. June 17, 2013, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 62 years old.
Mr. Cottle was born Sept. 3, 1950, in Sharon, a son of Ealy Cottle Sr. and Violet Crim Cottle.
He was a 1969 graduate of Farrell High School and served in the Army from 1972-74.
Mr. Cottle was formerly employed with General Motors Lordstown (Ohio) car assembly plant, retiring after 26 years of loyal service.
As an active member of Hour of Power Full Gospel Tabernacle, Farrell, he served as co-junior pastor of the youth ministry and member of the choir and Men of Power. He often dedicated his spare time to repair work and maintenance at the church.
He was an avid fisherman. Red loved to spend time with his family and friends and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, the former Claudia Malloy, whom he married June 16, 1984; his children, Jonette Dozier, Nicole Malloy, Gerald L. Cottle Jr., Garrick L. Cottle and Jerralyn J. Cottle, all Sharon; his sister, Linda C. Cottle-Haynes, Farrell; his brothers, Ealy Cottle Jr., Sacramento, Calif.; and Jason “Pooker” Green and his wife Tosha, Farrell; his godson, Jaylyn Sharper; his grandchildren, Gerisse, Sha’Mya, Braden, Ajaya, Garrick, Saimar, Gionna, Jerrell, Jamont, Rebecca, Geovante, Tyree and Nylarrej; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kevin Cottle; and two children, Gerrelle and Gerisse Cottle.
