Pymatuning Twp. man worked at Damascus Tube


- — Russell A. Simpkins, Pymatuning Township, died at 12:02 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, following an extended illness. He was 81.

Russell was born Nov. 11, 1932, in Transfer, a son of Russell and Alice (Newton) Simpkins.

He graduated from Hickory High School in 1951.

Russell served in the Army from 1957 to 1959.

He had been employed by the former Damascus Tube Corp., Reynolds, as a straightening operator.

Russell enjoyed farming, being outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are: his wife, Doris (Miller) Simpkins, whom he married in August 1969; a daughter, Nanci Dickson and her husband David, Transfer; and two grandchildren, Jessica and Joseph Dickson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Pearl Simpkins and Madeline Morrison.
