Harry E. Nickels

WWII vet, WE worker was Moose member

---- — Harry E. Nickels of Greenville passed away peacefully at 7:55 p.m. Friday (7-5-13) at White Cliff Nursing Home, Hempfield Township. He was 91.

Mr. Nickels was born Oct. 1, 1921, to Christ and Susan Sholler Nickels in Volant.

He graduated from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School.

Harry was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy.

He worked as a winder for the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.

On Dec. 7, 1947, he married the late Dorothy Heasle. She passed away Nov. 29, 2010.

Harry was a member of Reynolds VFW 7599; and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 276, Greenville; and he enjoyed gardening.

Harry is survived by his daughter, Judith A. Simonton and her fiance Ron Hall, Greenville; a son, Keith and his wife Linda Nickels, Sharpsville; a brother, Bill and his wife Sandra Nickels, Tallmadge, Ohio; two grandchildren, Sandy and her husband Dave Philbrick; and Kelly and her husband Bob Wick; and three great-grandchildren, Colleen Philbrick, Emily Philbrick and Parker Wick.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Cassandra Smith.
