Marilyn Dresel

Mellon Bank retiree was St. Joseph’s member

- — Marilyn Dresel of Richmond Drive, Sharon, passed away of natural causes at 9 p.m. Friday (1-31-14) in John XXIII Home, Hermitage. She was 78.

Born Nov. 20, 1935, in Sharon, Mrs. Dresel was one of three children born to Ralph A. and Elizabeth Leith Sewall.

A lifelong area resident, she graduated from Sharon High School.

Marilyn retired from the former Mellon Bank as a loan officer after a long career in the banking industry.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Sharon.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, a generous friend and eternal optimist, she felt that her greatest achievement was raising her two sons, who are accomplished musicians.

She found her greatest joy when surrounded by her family; she was forever the doting mother and grandmother to her four grandchildren.

An accomplished seamstress, in her early years she loved to sew and even made her own wedding dress.

Her husband of 56 years, Bernie Dresel, whom she married Feb. 1, 1958, survives at home.

She also leaves her two sons, Bernie Dresel Jr. and his wife Julie, North Ridge, Calif.; and Jonathan Dresel and his wife Maggie, Woodland Hills, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Lydia, Josie, Eileen and Colin. She also leaves several nieces, nephews and countless others into whose lives she brought infinite love and sunshine.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ralph E. “Gene” Sewall and James Sewall.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to American Cancer Society, 3208 B Wilmington Road, Box 5037, New Castle, PA 16105; or Buhl Park, 715 Hazen Road, Hermitage, PA 16148.
