Sharon woman was born in North Carolina


---- — A funeral service will be held Sunday for Marie Anne Cameron of Sharon. She passed away at 12:55 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 85.

Mrs. Cameron was born June 14, 1927, in Rosman, N.C.  

She attended Rosman High School and worked at Murphy’s 5 & 10 Store and Ecusta Paper Co. until her marriage.

On Jan. 4, 1944, she married John A. Cameron in Pickens, S.C., while he was in the military. For three years, they lived in Rosman, then came back to Pennsylvania until John retired. They then returned to Rosman. Marie moved back to Sharon about four years ago with her daughter.

She is survived by: a son, William and his wife Irene, Pulaski; three daughters, Janice Clayton and her husband William, Sharpsville; Judy K. Griffin and her husband Hirman, Sharon, with whom she resided; and Cindy Findley and husband Michael, Easley, S.C.; and a brother, Raymond Galloway and his wife Nadine, Bervard, N.C.

She was the grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of 11.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Oliver and Julia Mason Galloway; her husband, John A. Cameron; a son, Dwayne Cameron; two grandsons, Paul Ferry and Gene Griffin; an infant granddaughter, Heather Findley; three brothers, an infant, Newman Galloway, and William “Sunny” Galloway and Glenn Galloway; and four sisters, Althajean Galloway, Louise Dishman, Lorena O’Kelly and Lois Funder, all originally from North and South Carolina.

Service: Funeral service at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home with Pastor Jim Weikal of Sharon Alliance Church officiating.

Interment: Private at Rickert Cemetery, Transfer.
