Irene Lucas Bicek

Former Sharon woman was St. Joseph’s member


---- — Irene Lucas Bicek of St. Paul’s, West Salem Township, formerly of McClure Avenue, Sharon, passed from this life at 11:10 a.m. Thursday (6-13-13) in St. Paul’s. She was 97.

Mrs. Bicek was born May 23, 1916, in Farrell to Michael and Mary E. Mayernik Lucas.

Irene attended Sharon schools.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Sharon.

Her first husband, Joseph Lucas, whom she married Feb. 6, 1939, died Dec. 1, 1971. She then married Martin A. Bicek on Nov. 30, 1985. Martin died Nov. 4, 2005.

Her greatest interest in life was her devotion to her husbands, Joseph and Martin, as well as her children and grandchildren.

Irene is survived by a daughter, Noreen Muha and her husband Robert, Rock Hill, S.C.; and two sons, David Lucas and his wife Shirley, Easley, S.C.; and Mark Lucas and his wife Debbie, Hubbard. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by a brother, John Lucas; and a sister, Helen Banish.

Burial: St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Hermitage.
