Avid outdoorsman was Shenango Inc. carpenter


---- — Paul William Barlett of Yankee Ridge Road, Lackawannock Township, died Sunday morning (6-23-13) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 93.

Paul was born Dec. 6, 1919, in Sharpsville, to Charles E. and Gertie Scott Barlett.

Paul attended Sharpsville Area School District.

He married Ruth E. Myers Barlett on Feb. 7, 1936.

Paul was employed as a carpenter at Shenango Inc., Sharpsville, for more than 40 years.

He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Paul loved to tell many stories of the past and share his love of the outdoors.

He is survived by a daughter-in-law, Sue Holder Barlett, Sharon; a son-in-law, Andy Wood, Chesapeake, Va.; his grandchildren, including Billy and his wife Darlene Wood, Chesapeake, Va.; Pam Barlett Bar and her husband Ralph, Butler; John Paul Barlett, Mercer; Judy Barlett Nelligan, Greenville; Matthew Barlett and his wife Lesley, Sharon; Michael Barlett and his wife Beth, Hermitage; and nine great-grandchildren. Paul is also survived by his close friends Harman and LaVerne Crawford, Mercer

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two daughters, Shirley Ann Wood and V. Jeanne Wigley; a son, Paul Edward Barlett; a granddaughter, Virginia Wood; a son-in-law, the Rev. James Wigley; and a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Barlett Nelligan.

Calling hours: 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday (6-26-13) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 310 West Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington.

Funeral: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday (6-27-13) in the funeral home with the Rev. William H. Stone Jr. officiating.

Burial: Mount Washington Cemetery, Jefferson Township.
