YOUNGSTOWN – John Frank Sopko of 107 Westchester Drive, Youngstown, formerly of Farrell, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, after a brief illness. He was 67.
Mr. Sopko was born Oct. 25, 1946, in Sharon, a son of Frank and Connie Barretta Sopko.
He was a 1964 graduate of Farrell High School and served with the Army during the Vietnam conflict.
John was a car salesman in the greater Youngstown area for many years and a caregiver to disabled seniors.
He was a former member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann’s Church, Farrell, and belonged to the Italian Home, the Slovak Home and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5286, all Farrell.
He enjoyed walking and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are: a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Dimoff, Austintown, Ohio; a son, Michael John Sopko, Hermitage; two sisters, Rose Ann Jones, Austin, Texas; and Patty Sopko Filipovich, Howland, Ohio; three grandchildren, Kelsie, Isabella and Ashton; a niece, Kim; and three nephews, Matt, Cameron and Kristopher.
John was preceded in death by his parents.

Service: Funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Donald E. Berdis, pastor of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann’s Church, Farrell, officiating.
Interment: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage, with military honors.
