Ferne Cozad Sticht

GC native enjoyed painting, antiques, interior design


---- — WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Ferne Cozad Sticht, a longtime resident of Lost Tree Village, North Palm Beach, Fla., passed away Saturday evening, June 8, 2013, in her home in Winston-Salem. She was 95.

Mrs. Sticht was born Aug. 17, 1917, in Grove City to Steven Scott and Beatrice Holcroft Cozad.

She attended Grove City College, where she was active with the Delta Delta Tau sorority and graduated in 1938 with a secretarial degree.

Ferne married her college sweetheart, J. Paul Sticht, on Oct. 19, 1940, in Grove City. He preceded her in death March 27, 2007.

Mrs. Sticht and her husband had maintained residences in New Hampshire, North Carolina and Florida.

Ferne was passionate about American antiques, interior design and, later in life, watercolor painting.

She is survived by two sons, David, Meredith, N.H.; and Mark, Miami, Fla., and their families.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Sticht was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lois B. Walters.

Service and burial: Memorial service at noon Friday, June 21, 2013, in Davis Memorial Chapel at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem. A private family graveside committal will take place in Grove City.
