Erma Laura Peterson of North Neshannock Road, Hermitage, passed away of natural causes at 10:20 p.m. Monday (6-24-13) in John XXIII Home, Hermitage. She was 88.
Mrs. Peterson was born March 5, 1925, in Barberton, Ohio, one of three daughters born to Harold and Minnie Marie Molson Earle.
She graduated in 1944 from Hickory High School, Hermitage.
Erma was a familiar face at several First National Bank drive-thru windows, working as a bank teller. She retired in 1975 from its Sharpsville branch.
As a longtime member of Central Christian Church in Hermitage and its Christian Women Fellowship, she served as a deacon, was an elder emeritus, sang in the choir and taught Sunday school class in years past.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Hickory Post 6166, Hermitage.
In her younger years, she enjoyed crocheting, ceramics and bowling with her friends.
Her husband, William E. Peterson, whom she married June 12, 1943, passed away May 1, 1991.
She is survived by: two daughters, Connie I. Patterson and her husband Plem, Reynolds; and Diane M. Peterson, Sharon; two sons, William A. Peterson and his wife Sheryl; and Gary L. Peterson and his wife Carol, all Hermitage; seven grandchildren, Timothy and Robert Peterson, Shawn Peterson, Brett Peterson, Starr Peterson-Hamalak; and Ryan and Bobbie Patterson; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Ruth Martin and Norma Sercia.
