Jamestown man enjoyed gardening, dancing


- — Wallace N. Hitchcock, 85, of 162 Ray Road, Jamestown, died at 7 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2014, at White-Cliff Nursing Home, Greenville.

He was born April 5, 1929 in Sharon to Wallace M. and Elizabeth (Black) Hitchcock. He married Ruth Youngblood Sept. 13, 1947. She died Feb. 28, 2008.

He retired as a millworker from Sharon Tube Co., Sharon.

He enjoyed farming, gardening, ballroom dancing and roller skating.

He’s survived by three sons, Daniel N. Hitchcock and Jerry K. Hitchcock, both of Jamestown, and Mike G. Hitchcock and his wife, Patti, of Espyville; two daughters, Amy L. McPheters and Nancy Faye Hitchcock, both of Meadville; eight 8 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jerry Hitchcock and two brothers, John Hitchcock and Ralph Hitchcock.

Service: 10 a.m. Friday (4-18-14)  in the funeral home with the Rev. Phillip Beck, Central Community Church, Transfer, officiating.

Burial: Park Lawn Cemetery, Jamestown.
