A funeral service will be held Friday for John C. Robb, formerly of Longview Road, Hermitage. He passed away peacefully at 7:15 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2014, in O’Brien Memorial Health Care Center, Masury, after an extended illness. He was 91.
Mr. Robb was born Jan. 31, 1923, in Argentine, Pa., a son of Howard C. and Elizabeth Young Robb.
He was a 1940 graduate of Hickory High School, then served in the Army as a technician 5th grade in World War II, earning two Bronze Stars and Good Conduct and Victory medals.
John was a member for more than 50 years of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sharon, where he had served on two pastor nominating committees and as a deacon and elder. He had been a member of the Couplers Sunday school class.
He had worked as a painter’s helper at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. for 40 years, retiring in 1981.
John enjoyed reading books, writing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
On May 16, 1946, he married Catherine Mae Frazier, who died Nov. 6, 1992.
He is survived by his daughter, Jonine Flowers and her husband Gary, Sharpsville; a son, Craig F. Robb and his wife Judy, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; three grandsons, Aaron, Andrew and Edwin Flowers; and two sisters, Marion Leggatt, Mercer; and Joan Kilgore, Niles, Ohio.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Joy Ella, who died in 1967; and a brother, Howard J. Robb.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday in the church with the Rev. Dr. Terry Mann officiating. Military honors will be presented at the church by the Honor Guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5286, Farrell; and Post 6233, West Middlesex; and American Legion Post 432, Wheatland.
Entombment: Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum, Hermitage.
