Ada Mesmer

Homemaker was planner, bus driver for Fairhaven

- — Ada Mesmer of Hermitage, formerly of Brookfield, passed away of natural causes on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014, in John XXIII Home, Hermitage, after a brief illness. She was 94.

Mrs. Mesmer was born June 9, 1919, as the eighth of 11 children born at home in Brookfield to Rex E. and Elsie Tribby Hall.

Ada was a 1937 graduate of Brookfield High School and married Carl Mesmer on Jan. 11, 1938. Together they shared 53 years before his passing on Dec. 11, 1991.

Ada was a homemaker and a member of Brookfield Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Later in life, she drove a Fairhaven school bus for 14 years. She planned many parties and picnics for her clients and was an avid reader and Cleveland Indians fan. She was proud to have seen C.C. Sabathia throw his first pitch for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in a game in Niles, Ohio.

Even at the age of 94, Ada’s mind was keen, knowing all of the birthdays and activities of her eight grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Sally and her husband Bob Kaiser, Hermitage; and June Smith, Newton Falls, Ohio; and her brother, Paul Hall, Titusville, Fla.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Doris Mesmer; her son, David Mesmer; her parents; six brothers, Clyde, Earl, Otto, Carl, Ashton and Dale Hall; three sisters, Laverne Shockey, Doris Hutchison and Edna Barber; and an infant grandson, David Mesmer.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions in Ada’s honor be made to John XXIII Home, 2250 Shenango Valley Freeway, Hermitage, PA 16148, where she had made her home for the last four years.

Mrs. Carl (Ada), 94, Hermitage.
