Marilyn Lasina Williams

Active Community Baptist member worked at JMC

- — A funeral service will be held Saturday for Marilyn Lasina Williams of Farrell. She was called home to be with the Lord at 1:31 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2014, after a brief illness. She was 61.

Mrs. Williams was born March 7, 1953, in Sharon to Clyde Pickens and Edith Dunlap.

A lifelong resident of the Shenango Valley, Marilyn attended Farrell High School and continued her education by earning a degree as a certified electrician from New Castle School of Trades.

Marilyn worked as a manufacture laborer at JMC Steel, Wheatland, for more than 20 years.

As a faithful member of Community Missionary Baptist Church in Farrell, Marilyn sang in the choir and served on the kitchen, church anniversary and special effort committees.

She leaves to cherish her legacy: her husband of 47 years, Raymond “Sonny” Williams Jr.; her daughter, Renee S. Rodgers and her husband Arthur Rodgers Sr., Snellville, Ga.; two sons, Mark A. Williams and his wife Toni S. Williams, Stone Mountain, Ga.; and Ray Michael Williams Sr. and his wife Brandi L. Williams, Winder, Ga.; and six grandchildren, Arthur L Rodgers Jr., Jasmine M. Williams, Ray Michael Williams Jr., Latasha Chapman, Latoya Chapman and Clinton Longmire, all Georgia.

She also leaves to treasure fond memories: four sisters, Mary Carol Albert and her husband Thomas Albert; Jolene Dunlap and Diane Dunlap, all Farrell; and Starlette Pickens, Georgia; three brothers, Jeff Dunlap, Hermitage; David Dunlap, Farrell; and Derrick Pickens, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church with the Rev. Troy D. Hunter, pastor of Community Missionary Baptist Church, Farrell, officiating.

Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.
