John F. Jazwinski

Westinghouse retiree enjoyed traveling


- — John F. Jazwinski of Sharon passed from this life at 10:20 p.m. Friday (4-25-14) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after a lengthy illness. He was 96.

“Mr. John” as he was known to his neighbors was born in Farrell on May 26, 1917 to Stanislaus and Blanche (Boleslawa) Sienicki Jazwinski.

On Feb. 21, 1941 he married the former Helen Koly. She preceded him in death on Jan. 11, 1997.

John was a member of St. Adalbert Church in Farrell. He attended the parish grade school for four years and a one-room school house in Pulaski. He was a graduate of Sharon High School class of 1935. He attended a TV repair school in Youngstown.

John had 42 years of service at the former transformer division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. in Sharon where he was a coil winder. He traveled in Europe where he visited with relatives in Poland and also in California, Hawaii and throughout the United States and Caribbean.

He is survived by: two daughters, Lois Gardner and Tekla Dilday, both of Hermitage; a sister, Barbara Oleskey, Hermitage; five grandchildren Michael and Bruce Gardner, Samantha McFerren, Amburr Farls and Marcus Dilday; seven great-grandchildren Taylor, Lucas and Trace Gardner and Felix and Judah McFerren and Bella and Joseph Farls.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ignatius and Felix Jazwinski and three sisters, Betty Ontko, Helen Lapka and Lucy LeBouvier. A son-in-law, Robert Gardner, is also deceased.

Service: Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Adalbert Church, 1035 Fruit Ave., Farrell, at 10 a.m. Tuesday (4-29-14) with Rev. Joseph J. Campbell, pastor, as celebrant.

Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery, Hermitage.
