NEW CASTLE —
Catherine “Katie” M. Hardisky, 740 Clelland Mill Road, formerly of 20 Spring St., both New Castle, was called home on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, in her daughter’s residence. She was 96.
Mrs. Hardisky was born March 16, 1918, in Mercer, a daughter of Albert Butchey Sr. and Catherine M. Menke Butchey.
Catherine was of the Roman Catholic faith and a member of the former Madonna Church, New Castle.
She enjoyed playing the piano and accordion and going to flea markets. Catherine was an avid collector of dolls and antiques.
Her husband for 36 wonderful years, Edward J. Hardisky Sr., preceded her in death Dec. 29, 1979.
Mrs. Hardisky was a loving mother and homemaker to her children and her husband, Edward.
She is survived by: two daughters, Catherine M. Evanoff, Hollywood, Fla.; and Deborah J. Campana, New Castle; three granddaughters, Cathryn M. Evanoff, Koror, Palau; Brenda Marie Evanoff, Youngstown; and Carlene J. York and her husband Griffith, whom she dearly loved, New Castle; and five great-grandchildren, Lincy Marino, Matthew Abaren, Justin York, Cassidy York and Mani Marino.
In addition to her husband, Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Edward J. Hardisky Jr.; two brothers, Andrew Butchey and Albert Butchey Jr.; a sister, Margaret Scarnati; and son-in-law, Richard Campana.
The family is asking that memorial contributions be made in her name to Lawrence County Meals on Wheels Program, 1000 S. Mercer St., New Castle, PA 16101.

Burial: Holy Trinity (Hungarian) Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hermitage.
