Della Mae Meckler

Life member of St. John’s enjoyed painting, music

---- — A funeral service will be held today for Della Mae Meckler, 2250 Shenango Valley Freeway, Hermitage, formerly of Wheatland and Sharon. She passed away peacefully at 6:45 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2013, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness. She was 90.

Mrs. Meckler was born July 14, 1922, in West Middlesex, a daughter of Ralph and Minnie L. Uber Arbuckle.

She was a 1941 graduate of Sharon High School and a lifetime member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Sharon.

Della had worked as a regional supervisor at the former Greenthumb Program in the area for 18 years and was past president of the Shenango Valley VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed painting and music.

Della was the widow of George D. Meckler, who passed away in 1989.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Beck and her husband, John, Mercer; and Kathleen Wedlake and her husband, David, Greenville; three sons, Joseph Meckler, Orange Park, Fla.; Mont Meckler, Indiana; and George Meckler, Masury; a daughter-in-law, Ginger Meckler, Newton Falls, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Alice Cornelious, Sharon.

Mrs. Meckler is also survived by 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a stepfather; her son, Ralph G. Meckler Sr.; her grandson, Ralph G. Meckler Jr.; a sister, three brothers and a sister-in-law.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 226 W. State St., Sharon, PA 16146.

Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday (4-30-13) at St. John's Episcopal Church in Sharon and with Rev. Adam T. Trambley officiating

Interment: Brookfield Township Cemetery, Brookfield Township.
