A funeral service will be held Wednesday for Betty L. Lyons of 3726 E. State St., Hermitage, formerly of Linden Street, Sharon. She passed away peacefully at 7:04 a.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013, in Hospitality Care Center in Hermitage, after an extended illness. She was 72.
Mrs. Lyons was born May 29, 1940, in Ironton, Ohio, a daughter of Fred and Virgie Watson Skidmore.
She had worked as a cleaning person at C.W. Properties. Previously, she had worked at the former Hills store in Hermitage, the Sharon Parking Authority and the former Howell Industries in Masury.
Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and taking care of her pets.
She was of Protestant faith.
Her husband, James Lyons, whom she married Jan. 5, 1957, died Jan. 18, 1986.
She is survived by her three daughters, Janet Kuchmak and her husband Tony, Hermitage; and Donna Bondarenko and her husband George; and Tammy Richards and her companion Don Kirkland, all Sharon; and two sons, James Lyons and his wife Lena, Jackson, Ohio; and Thomas Lyons and his wife Rose, Sharpsville.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Michael “Anthony” Kuchmak; Chrissy and Mary Kuchmak; Clyde, Danny and Stephanie Richards; and Sheila and Erica Lyons; along with five great-grandchildren, Michael, Carley, Savannah and Jada Kuchmak; and Payden Richards.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Freda and Olive Skidmore; and Jean Keaton; and two brothers, Buster Skidmore and Fred Skidmore Jr.
