Vietnam veteran retired from United Steel Services


---- — Daniel H. Porter of Farrell passed away at 3:52 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013, in his residence. He was 63.

Mr. Porter was born March 18, 1950, in Sharon, a son of Howard and Anne Berisky Porter.

He was a graduate of Hickory High School.

Following high school, Daniel enlisted in the Army and served in the Vietnam conflict.

Daniel retired from United Steel Services as a banding line operater.

Daniel was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a past member of the Brookfield Conservation Club. He enjoyed riding roller coasters at amusement parks and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Most importantly, Daniel loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are: his wife, Karla Bilko Porter, whom he married Oct. 31, 1981; a son, Daniel Jacob Porter and his wife Jessica, Hermitage; a daughter, Lisa Porter, Farrell; four sisters, Josephine Donaldson, Nancy Dorus, Michelle Coon and Mary Ann Klingensmith; and four grandchildren, Amaree and Braylon Gillespie; and Landon and Ella Porter.

In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by a brother.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to National Wild Turkey Federation, Box 530, Edgefield, SC 29824-0530.
